"KAVITHALAYA" Presents "APPU".
"Young Love Star" Prasanth, "ALL
INDIA Chappa Mukku Figures President" Devayani,
Prakash Raj, Vignesh, Eswari Rao, Kaveri in a BOMBAY RED
LIGHT Area Story "APPU". The
movie directed by "Keladi Kanmani" VASANTH
and Music by 'Then Isai Thendral' DEVA. Enjoy my

STORY:
Movies that involves Tragedy or Sad stories needs real good
direction to attract the crowd or else people really hate those
movies. A Good example is Nayagan and Mahanadhi which was shaped
into a good movie because of the direction touch of Manirathanam
and Santhana
Barathi. That's the reason our Kodambakkam Directors take movies
related to "TOMATO LOVE", "ONION
LOVE", "CARROT LOVE" , "BRINJAL LOVE" or
"VILLAGE SUBJECT" or "TEMPLE SUBJECT" because
the risk involved in those movies are really less. Some way or
other People come to theatre to watch those LOVE Subjects and go
home. "APPU" is one such Sad movie
which lacks direction touch and the story is a Sad story! Result
????? "ARIPU and SORI ALL OVER THE BODY" and even BAYER
BAGON SPRAY ( Cockroach Killer Spray) cannot give relief
to us.
"Young Love Star" Prasanth is a Taxi
driver. All that he does is drive his YELLOW CAB
here and there in streets of MUMBAI without rest
with his sad face and 'ATTU DADI'. He has two
good friends DAMU and VIGNESH. It seems that his
sister was sold to a brothel ( Mama ) and she Died falling from
Third floor of a building before eyes of Prasanth. Prasanth is in
search of that Mama. The movie goes for half hour showing
Prasanth in a Normal Pant shirt with DADI and lots of KADI jokes
by DAMU which is unusual for a Romantic hero like Prasanth.
"ALL INDIA Chappa Mukku Figures President" Devayani
falls before Prasanths YELLOW CAB once and gives
him 'Love Birds'. A 'LOVE BIRDS LOVE' develops
between "ATTU DADI" Prasanth and
DEVAYANI. Then again he starts his Taxi and goes from that place.
DEVAYANI's Chitappa sells her to "MAHARANI"
(Prakash Raj) who is a MAMA because he was not able to
settle his accounts with him. "PRAKASAH RAJ" is
a ALI in this movie who comes with LIP STIC, Long hairs,
Chudidhar and talks "AYA INDHA AMBALAYA PAREN".....
Devayani escapes from "Maharani" and
again falls before PRASANTH's YELLOW CAB and
asks him for help. PRASANTH who has already a "LOVE
BIRDS LOVE" with her takes the task of getting her
from that Place. From this point the movie is really irritating
and BLADE and RAMBAM and what not. Prasanth gets into that house
as a customer and then bargains with him to get rid of DEVAYANI
from that place. The next time he goes with his friend and
escapes from that place with Devayani. Then the usual Chase and
PRAKASH RAJ killing all his friends and that Area police who is
working with PRAKASH RAJ etc etc and all those Bull shit ! The
comedy is climax. PRAKASH RAJ some how finds where Prasanth is
hiding. He comes with Villains and they ties him in a Tree like
'JESUS'. Prasanth will be hanging in that tree like Jesus and
villains will take Devayani. Then our Prasanth Gets out of that
tree like Jesus did and then chases the Jeep and saves her. He
roams with a gun as if he is ARNOLD 
SHIVAJINAGAR in "RAMBO" and he
shoots at villains and his gang the same way ARNOLD shoots in the
movie COMMANDO. I think the whole movie could have been taken in
20 Minutes or else it could have been taken as a Doordharshan
Tuesday 7:30 drama with LOOSE MOHAN as hero instead of taking it
as a movie and releasing it world wide.
PRASANTH:
The whole movie PRASANTH comes with a SAD FACE as
if he has drunk some Diesel in a BP Gas Station. The funny part
is that "ATTU DADI" in his face. All that he was
missing is a "DEVADOSS" Plate, a
bottle of "Sarayam", a Bed sheet and a Street Dog. If
he had everything he would Exactly look like DEVADOSS. Its quite
unusual to see PRASANTH in such dry characters. We are used to
see Prasanth with his TOMMY Jeans, NAIDU HALL T-shirt,
Reebok Shoes and Ray Ban Cooling Glass. Normally he
dives into Swimming pool and rides horse in the movies and Kissed
the Heroines in their lips and hips. In this movie he comes as a
Serious hero who saves a girl from Bombay red light area.
Fortunately they gave his couple of dream songs in which he
dances with his usual dress but they were not impressive. In few
places he has really done a good job. Other than that nothing
special.
DEVAYANI:
I think K.P. SUNDARAMBAL would be the best
Heroine for this movie rather than DEVAYANI. She comes with a sad
face as if she is SAGAR 'DIMPLE KABADIYA'. I
hate heroines comes and crying in the screens. All that we need
is entertainment and a 'CHAPA Figure' Like DEVAYANI comes and
cries "I REALLY HATE THAT". I think we
can watch movies like "KANAVANE KANN KANDA DEIVAM" in
which GEMINI GANESAN and PANDARI BAI cries rather than
DEVAYANI crying. No expression. She delivers Dialogs as
if she is acting in MANIRATHNAM's movie.
PRAKASH RAJ:
People expected a lot from Prakash Raj. He comes as an
"ALI" and exactly looks like an "AMBUR ALI"
and leader of that "RED LIGHT AREA".
He wears Chudidhar, Pavadai, Davani and Lip Stick which brings
nothing but irritation. He has done a good job in many scenes and
irritates us in few scenes. Overall he is ok for that Villain
role. The scenes where he shouts when "DEVAYANI"
escapes with Prasanth were too much. A OK Job when
compared to the other stars in the movie.
LOLLU COMMENTS:
The movie is a remake of "MAHESH BHATTS" SADAK
in which SANJAY DUTT did a good job. 'SADASHIV
AMRAPURKAR' who was the villain in that movie got good name and
was praised for his wonderful acting which "Prakash
Raj" failed to do in this movie ! VASANTH who remade this to
me was not successful in getting the same effect of SADAK. To me
the right name for this movie is "PARUPU" or
"VER KADALAI" or "KONDA KADALAI" or
"TAPPU" or "BOMBAY ALI" or "TAPAS"
or "PATAS". We spend two and hours for some
entertainment, If a movie is not going to provide us with
entertainment why we need to watch it. A serious movie must be a
real serious one like 'NAYAKAN'. If not there is no mean in
taking a Serious movie and make us cry for nothing.
VIGNESH is other guy who was irritating with no action and no
expression. He was looking like a "IDICHA PULI" who ate
"BALLI" two days before and comes as a friend of
Prasanth, DEVA's music was really good and there were couple of
songs which really made us to hear. Prasanth instead of acting in
movies like this might as well act in movies which involves LOVE
SUBJECT, HORSE RACE, SWIMING, GOLF etc and come with his regular
TOMMY JEANS rather than irritating us with Sad roles. His Last
movie GOOD LUCK was a flop one. I grade this movie to be a movie
for DEVADOSS and HARICHANDRAN's and not for a guy who
expect some humor out of a movie. The movie is worth only 35/100.
