ASATHAL New Tamil Movie Review by "Your Prabhu" :

"Puratchi Thamizan" Satyaraj, "Super Figure" Ramya Krishnan, Swathi, "All India Kuluku Nadigargal President" Babylona, Manivannan, Ramesh Khanna and Vadivelu in a New Tamil Comedy Movie "ASATHAL". STORY:

Taking comedy movies needs lots of talent. That's the reason most of the directors try to stay with the PANAYAR stories or Love Stories. A Comedy movie without any logic will give you fun at the same time irritate you. "ASATHAL" is one such movie which brings few laughs and the movie lacks that pace in many places although it has lots and lots of excellent comedy stars in the movie.

Satyaraj, Vadivelu and Ramesh Khanna are good friends from the Childhood. Don't worry it is not the usual Childhood friendship story. Vadivelu and Ramesh Khanna live with Satyaraj as he is a rich guy, They spend their life without worrying about anything and they never want to get married because they think that their freedom will go when they get married. Satyaraj's uncle Mannivannan wants him to get married. The story runs like this for a while with the regular "Looties" of Sataraj & Co.

The movie gets a turn when a Unknown female gives birth in Satyaraj's house and dies. In a confusion Satyaraj accepts that its his son to avoid getting Married . RAMYA KRISHNAN gets introduced as an Unmarried "MAMI" who comes to Satyaraj's house to take care of the Kid. Ramya misunderstands that Satyaraj is the reason for her sisters death and she wants to kill him. Meanwhile Baabelona gets into the house to take care of the "COW" in that house. It seems that she is an expert in milking cow and she can milk 10 liters in one hour. Her primary job is to milk the cow for that Kid in the house. Swathi gets into the house as a cook. The story runs like this for a while. Time comes when RAMYA decides to kill Satyaraj but Satyaraj escapes because of the Kid.

Ramya re-enters the house and later understands that Satyaraj is innocent. Then she falls in love with Satyaraj. Similarly Ramesh Khanna falls in love with Swathi and Vadivelu falls in Love with Babelona. The movie runs like this without any logic. To finish off the movie the real villan comes to picture. Then Ramya Krishnan and Satyaraj joins together as the kid is Ramya's sister kid. The movie ends without any Logic.

SATYARAJ, VAIDVELU, RAMESH KHANNA:

I think Satyaraj is getting older these days. He is one of those hero's who is making a come back and who is not able to compete with the young generation hero's. Some of the places he was very good. The same old Manivannan and Satyaraj combination in this movie. But there is nothing special to say about it. Vadivelu was good in his comedy. Especially when Satyaraj calls a lady and she does not respond and Vadivelu comes to Satyaraj and says "These days the style has changed" and you must call them as "CHITTTHHHHHHIIIIIII" imitating Chithi Drama. It was funny. Ramesh Khanna is yet another comedian who is growing.

RAMYA KRISHNAN:

I expected a lot from Ramya Krishnan. It was a wonderful opportunity for her. She was not up to the mark. She had two roles. A 50 year old Mami and the regular one. As usual the regular one was good. A Dance with a leather Dress was there as usual. Neither the "MAMI" role nor the regular one had anything special to say. I think she is doing a good job coming as "AMMAN". Who is this Babelona. MUMTAZ PART 2. She is trying to imitate mumtaz and she has failed in her action. No one can beat Mumtaz and she is one and only one. Most of the scenes she stays wearing a "PAVADAI, SHIRT" showing almost half of her Front end ,that was Vulgar!

LOLLU COMMENTS:

P. VASU who burnt his hands taking "THALI" Related movies has come with a different formulae. Comedy movies need lots of timing. I think only Kamal can do comedy movies with light subject and no logic. When actors like Satyaraj do the same it takes out the Salt out of the food. Ramya Krishnan was not impressive and she was normal which was a big drawback for the movie. Couple of songs were good. Vadivelu is improving a lot when compared to his previous movies. One good thing in this movie is there is no P.VASU THALI scenes in this movie. SWATHI and BABELONA were literally used for few Good "Scenes" which was irritating again. All together "ASATHAL" is yet another movie which didn't impress and is a movie which can be watched if you don't have any thing to do. It gets 35/100 from Lollu Express.
