STORY:
The story is basically about the problems between Upper Caste and Lower Caste people. There are Number of movies released so
far
which pictures caste problem. I think those movies are very
special because they say some message to the people. As usual VIJAYA
KUMAR is the village head and who is from a higher Caste
in that Village and PARTHIBAN works for Vijaya
Kumar who belongs to a Lower caste. Basically Parthiban is
everything for Vijaya Kumar's family. He takes care of
everything. MEENA gets introduces as the Only daughter for Vijaya
Kumar. MEENA likes Parthiban a lot because he takes care of her
like a kid. The scenes where Meena and Parthiban meet are really
sweet and One must really appreciate Parthiban for his excellent
acting. PARTHIBAN has one sister called "PECHI" who
loves her brother like anything.The Real "Galij" starts when VijayKumar goes to a "VILLAGE PANJAYATH " to say a decision. For those who does not understand what is meant by VILLAGE PANJAYATH its a group of UGLY LOOKING Old Guys who knows everything in this world sit and discuss about the issues happening in SAN FRANSISCO, SAN JOSE, SANTA MONICA, SANTA BARBARA, SUNNYVALE and SANTA CLARA and LOS ANGELES. Few say that even the President of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is decided by those "VILLAGE PANJAYATH PERISUS". It seems that RANJIT who belongs to a lower caste Loves a Higher caster female and VIJAY KUMAR has to decide what to do with that issue. In this movie he is extraordinary in his dressing. The usual WHITE VESTI is there. But this time that SILK JIBBA is missing. Instead he has "YELLOW SANDLE" (Sandanam) painted all over his body. A thick layer of Sandal coated all over his body and he walking with white slippers and Worships "MARI ATTAL" Goddess and Splits ECHAI and Shouts
"OKALI DEVAN PARAMBARAI NA SUMA NENACHINGALA" ....
"OKALI SEVE PUDUVANDA SEVI" ......
and then he kicks RANJIT's BUTT with his White Slippers and Ranjit flies and falls 10 feet away from the ground and again says "OKALI DEVAN NA SUMAVA" and makes his MUSH Proper with his hands and goes in a Bullock Card. The Mush was like the one K.T. KUNJUMON has.
Slowly MEENA starts tell her love to Parthiban. Parthiban who really likes Meena cant say a Yes to MEENA and sing a duet in
Switzerland or
Australia because of his Boss "Vijaya Kumar" and he
thinks that there will be unnecessary problems because of this
LOVE MATTER as he is from a Lower Caste. But We all know "LOVE
IS LOVE", "LOVE IS GREAT", "LOVE IS GOD"
and LOVE does not look for Age, Religion or Caste. If LOVE Comes
that's it. So MEENA does not agree to the good words Parthiban
says. She even tries to Kill herself and Parthi saves her.
Meanwhile Parthiban's sister falls in Love with "IDICHA
PULI" RAJA who comes to the village to do some MARKET
RESEARCH and give reports to WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION. But that
love becomes a Damn Failure because of Vijaya Kumar who says no
because of Caste.One fine morning Vijaya Kumar happen to know the LOVE that has developed in his Daughters heart but Meena refuses to say who he is. Vijaya Kumar Calls Parthiban and says " OKALE I want the head of that Guy". Parthiban instead of saying "Okale I will bring the head" starts his classic acting. What can he do now. Meena does not hear to anything what Parthiban says and her dad arranges for a marriage. A Real Touch of Class CLIMAX by CHERAN ends the movie. I bet if Someone is seeing the movie for first time "I AM SURE THAT YOU WILL CRY". Meena who cant take another guy in Life dies falling in a pond and PARTHIBAN who wants to prove his LOVE dies running towards Meena and dies. I real sad climax which really hurts and makes us think. I even cried after the movie was over.
PARTHIBAN:
I think Parthiban is an extremely talented artist in Kodambakkam. His Plus points are his Rowdi Looks and KD Actions and at the same time Acting like a Fruit (Pazam). I dont know how he is able to do that. One Scene MEENA calls Parthi's sister and feeds her with some Left over Food and Presents her with a "GOLUSU". One must see PARTHI's acting after that.... He will say, "PACHICHA VAYIRUKU SAPADU POTTU, GOLUSU POTTU AZAGU PAKIRINGALE" ...... I was Touched the way Parthiban Looked as Meena and at the same time Meena Acting like a Kid... Excellent artist who can do good Characters like "BARADHI" in this movie. I love Parthiban.
MEENA:
Meena is yet another artist I LOVE to watch. She is extremely beautiful in her looks and a real class actor. Especially when
MEENA
comes with "PAVADAI, DAVANI" or in a
"SAREE" no questions asked and she is the best
looking artist in Kodambakkam. I bet. In this movie she comes as
a village girl who falls in love with a guy who is working in his
house. 100 Whistle to MEENA! The scene in which PARTHI keeps Oil
on MEENA's hand and giving advice to her that what she does is
wrong and at the same time she talking with PARTHI with her eyes
saying that "THAT IS WHAT IS CALLED AS LOVE" ,
MEENA, MEENAMMA Where are you ! You are so sweet.
VIJAYAKUMAR: VijayaKumar did a great Job in this movie. Excellent
acting and i guess he is the only person who can do serious roles
like this. But i still dont understand the meaning of the word
"OKALI". VijayaKumar uses this "OKALI" word
in each and every movie like "OKALE Seviduven",
"OKALE Vetiduven". Please Let me know if you guys
understand the meaning. Other than BEAR body with full of hairs
he is really a good Actor. I think only he can do such characters
with so much involvement. Excellent Vijayakumar.LOLLU COMMENTS:
Any movie which discuss problems with a Strong Screen Play is always going to be a super Duper hit. CHERAN who is emerging as a super director is doing a great job in taking movies related to problems. It was his first movie and he is constantly giving hits. One good example is his super duper hit movie "PORKALAM" with Murali and Meena. It seems that his latest Production "VETRI KODI KATTU" with Parthiban, Murali, Meena is a big hit. The only reason being CHERAN is very smart in taking problems that an average person has. Good Screen Play is what i like the best in his movies. One specialty is the artist are very simple with no jumping, Pumping songs and they concentrate only on acting. I think its a big plus.
BARADHI KANNAMMA is a mixture of Good Screen Play, Direction, Acting and Comedy makes it so special. Parthiban, Meena, Vijaya Kumar did an excellent job to a wonderful Story. A kind hearted person will really cry after seeing the climax of the movie. This movie is a very special movie and its worth 85/100 for its Great story line and saying a good message to the Public.
