Most of our Tamil Movies revolve around One common and interesting subject called "LOVE". They have showed different kinds of LOVE. 25 - 60 Love, 60 -25 Love, Idly Love, Sambar Love, Chapathi Love, Vadai Love, Vengayam Love, Tomato Love and even LOVE between Six months old kids etc. KADALAN is one such movie where the Hero falls in LOVE with GOVERNOR's daughter and gets kicked in his butt later.
PRABHU DEVA and VADIVELU are very good friends and they go to college for the heck of going there. Prabhu Deva is Collge President and Vadivelu hangs around with him. The Initial Phase of the movie was entertaining and impressive. VADIVELU who thinks that his Back is like a Skeleton and who does not have any hip to wear a Jeans Pant. So he first ties VESTI to make his Back a bigger one so that he can wear his NEWPORT jeans and freque before females. It was really funny although VADIVELU was irritating with his CROW voice and KAKA Looks. Then comes "OORVASI OORVASI" song which was a big hit during that time. PRABHU DEVA with his great dancing talents steals the show and Vadivelu doing all sorts of comedy. The movie runs for half hour with full of entertainment.
SPB is 21st Century dad who works as a Constable and who thinks that Generation gap must not be there between Dad and Son.
So he chills out
with his Son Prabhu Deva, Drinking Beer with him and sharing the
Same Cigarette talking about Malayalam Matter Movies. That is
both Son and dad sharing a Cigar and Beer. Prabhu's Mom is also a
Freque out mom who Fries Fish when her Husband (SPB) and her Son
(Prabhu Deva) drinks beer. Very good family right.Prabhu Deva happen to go to Governor's house once to invite him for his College Day function where he meets Nagma who was some one like his dream girl and in his first encounter he falls on her and the usual Tamil Cinema Ajaks Majaks and an ONE SIDE LOVE Develops. Then a wonderful dream song by "Unni Krishnan" think it was the best melody song after a long long long time written by Variamuthu and Music by A.R. REHMAN, . A wonderful song,

The song was really a good one but One sad thing is Prabhu Deva will do all sorts of Monkey action like doing "BALTI" in Snow, wearing White Pant and White shirt, black and white coat etc. But that's ok. NAGAMA who first hates Prabhu Deva because of the GALIJ they do in the dance class like dancing for "PETTA RAP" song in their dance class where they teach BARADAM. Prabhu Deva gets advice from his Dad SPB how to attract her and he says Do some thing which she likes. So Deva draws a Picture of NAGMA with his legs doing some dance and the ONE SIDE LOVE turns into TWO SIDE LOVE.
The LOVE between Prabhu Deva and Nagma gets deeper day by day. They both exchange World famous LOVE dialogs like " Dai
Unnaku Ennai Romba Pidukuma" ,
"Evalvu Pidikum". That means "Do U love
Me so much. If so tell me the measure". I want to know one
thing. Are there any measurement for LOVE like "I LOVE
SWARNA and the LOVE is 102 KILOS" etc. In turn PRABHU DEVA
advice NAGAMA and say how much he loves her. One good comedy is
they both will be left over in a Picnic and our Prabhu Deva will
Boil "SOLAM" (Corn), "VERKADALAI" for
Hungry NAGMA and makes a "THOTIL" for her to sleep in
the night. For those who does not know what is meant by
"THOTIL" Its a special bed made of SAREE which is used
to make small kids to Sleep comfortably. In this movie PRABHU
DEVA makes one for NAGMA who is like a Little Elephant. I don't
think Elephants can sleep in THOTIL.Nagma's dad hears about the Deep Love between NAGMA and PRABHU DEVA and with the help of MADRAS CITY POLICE (MCP) ties "LADAM" to Prabhu Deva. What to do. Its true LOVE. You have to face all these things if you LOVE some one like taking SLIPPER SLAPS, DOG BITES, THODAPAM Slaps etc etc. NAGMA overacts like "Carving" Prabhu Deva's name on walls etc etc and at last the movie ends as TRUE LOVE wins and NAGMA and PRABHU DEVA joins together.
PRABHU DEVA:
It was 1990's Prabhu Deva who just had few bones and 2 Meter of Skin in his body with "KARADI DADI". He normally comes with loose pant and loose shirt with a Sad face and he exactly looks like Person "WHO SELLS MASALA PAL IN MOUNT ROAD". KADALAN was his first movie as hero and he really danced well in all the songs. I think the movie became a big hit because of PRABHU DEVA's dance and A.R. REHMAN's music.
NAGMA:
NAGMA was too good. We can separate NAGMA's career into two
1. NAGMA Before Love with SARATH KUMAR (B.L.S.K)
2. NAGMA After Love with SARATH KUMAR. (A.L.S.K)
Like how we separate B.C (Before the Birth of Christ) and A.D (After the Death of Christ). The B.L.S.K Nagma Was so sweet. She had really good structure and was not over Plump, Not very thin and she was the right structure for our Jollus. But what happened. A stone fell on a Glass. SARATH KUMAR Jollufied NAGAMA and B.L.S.K became A.L.S.K Nagama. That's it Gone. NAGMA was good at everything in this movie. Good Dance and good Acting.
K.T. KUNJUMON:
K.T. KUNJUMON also called as K.T.K in Kodambakkam was "SELLING POTOTO CHIPS" in Kerala. Later he turned into a Film Producer. First he was releasing super duper hit movies like "ARIYADA PENN KUTTY", "FOUR PLUS FOUR", "AVALUNDA KAMUGAN" etc etc. His first big hit was GENTLE MAN with Arjun. Next came KADALAN and he became famous although he looks like a WHITE SEA WORLD SEAL with PRAWN Mush. The specialty of him is his Folded Fingers and the Pose he gives in the movies. One more thing when he speaks Tamil excellent. He is the only person who can speak MALTAMIL (50% Mallu and 50% tamil). Enjoy KTK. When is your Sons movie getting released. We are waiting for it.
LOLLU COMMENTS:
Some movies become a big hit just for some reason. The reason for this movie being a hit was the wave that was created at that time by Prabhu Deva with his Dancing talents. An Excellent Dancer. Also the songs and the music was really great. Other than that its a very normal Love story. Nagma was excellent. I don't remember the name of the person who comes as NAGMA's Dad (GOVERNOR) of Tamil Nadu. He used to come in that "DABUR TOOTH PASTE" Ad. When you go to EGA theatre they used to put Ads before the movie. I think he comes in that ad and bites and Acroot Kotai. K.T. Kunjumon other than showing his twisted hands to the public did not do anything.
The message to Public is, Read it in GOUNDER MANI tone, "PLEASE LOVE", "LOVE IS LOVE", "LOVE IS GOD", "LOVE IS ONION", " LOVE IS TOMATO", "LOVE IS PERUNGAYAM", "LOVE IS GINGER", "LOVE IS GARLIC", "LOVE IS LOVE" So LOVE ..... I don't know what they want to show scene's like father buying beer for his kid and mom frying Fish for their side dish. I Just cant imagine my dad doing that for me and myself and my dad slapping Glass saying Cheers... Ha ha ha ! My Only advice is LOVE GOVERNOR daughter or Chief Minister Daughter then only you will get LADAM and ICE Cubes from Police constables ! "KADALAN" is a movie that can be enjoyed if you don't think about the logic . A good entertainment for two and half hours. I grade this movie as a good entertainer and its worth 70/100.
