"Kanathil Muthamital". STORY:
After Heart breaking "Alaipayudhey" which was a light Love subject, Manirathnam is back in track to his normal Hard Subject in "Kanathil Muthamital" with his same Crew members who has given Big time Quality hit movies which rocked the Cine world last Decade. This time it's with a Sri Lankan adopted girl who wants to meet her Original mom. Madhavan and Simran are made for Each other Pair like LIPTON TOP STAR TEA who has three kids. Couple of them was born for them and Baby "Keerthana" is an adopted one. They lead a happy life till they decide to say to Keerthana that she is an adopted kid. Once Keerthana hears that she is an adopted kid She wants to see her original mom (NANDITA DAS) who is in
a Mission in Sri Lanka. So Madhavan, Simran and Baby Keerthana fly to Sri Lanka to meet her and they are guided by Parakash Raj. The movie takes a complete 90 Degree turn from this point from a family of Three kids to a "Roja" style subject. A touch of class "Manirathnam" style Violence, Blasts etc etc to project how people suffer in those places and how these people overcome and meet her Original mom is what the second half. At last when the Kid meets her original mom again Manirathnam Pours his wide experience in the Screenplay and makes us really cry. The Baby fires serious of questions to her mom, Why She Left her, Who is her Dad, Why cant she come to Madras with her which were really taken upto "AAAA" Class and Manirathnam Proves again that he is the Only Director in "INDIA" to make movies like this. The climax was very well handled and the movie ends.
MADHAVAN, SIMRAN:
All these days we see Madhavan so called as "Maddy" by his female fans all around the globe has come out with an outstanding performance in this movie. He was quiet and calm and gave more Juice to his character. One could see the female crowd jumping with JOLLU when he came on the screen for the first time in the movie. At the same time when One must see the guys crowd when SIMRAN's name was displayed in the title. One thing best about SIMRAN is she is not only good looking she has come out As the best actress we have seen so far in recent times. She comes with full covered cotton sarees and she looks extremely beautiful from all angles and all costume. EAST OR WEST "SIMRAN" is the best. But we missed eye catchy Hip
dance and tight costume of her in this movie. Other
than that a wonderful performance by both of them. MANIRATHNAM, "BABY" KEERTHAN:
The Hero's of the movie were MANIRATHNAM and "BABY" KEERTHAN. No one can handle a script like this like Manirathnam. His direction touch was sparkled in each and every scene in the movie. Comedy were part of the Main characters and there was no separate Comedy track in the movie with an extra comedian. KEERTHAN daughter of Another Class actor "PARTIPAN" and SEETA proves that she has the same talent as of her father. She was well matured and her acting talents can be compared to a well-matured actor, which was the key for this movie. But one cannot forget that MANIRATHNAM can extract acting out of a 2 Year old kid! Good job MANIRATHNAM.
LOLLU COMMENTS:
All these days we were so much used to see "Arva Kolaru" movies like RED or "Rama Narayanan's" Snake or God movies, which has no logic and no touch of class music or good photography. MANIRATHNAM proves again that he is the only guy who can make movies like this one. A.R. REHMAN's music was good but the songs are not a big hit like his previous one although they are very sweet to hear. Locations were too good and they have projected the beauty of Sri Lankan island and it looks like Hawai with its beautiful rain forest. NANDITHA DAS stays in our mind although she comes for few minutes in the movie. All together its a great movie. Its nice to see that people had nice time watching and everyone left out with full satisfaction when they left the theatre. But one unfortunate thing is the movie will suit well for the "A" class theatre and not those theatres which release movie like "ADUTHA VITTU ATHA" etc etc. The movie gets 90/100 for touch of class "MANIRAHTNAM" direction and acting talents of the artist. For sure "KEERTHNA" has very good acting talents like her father.
