As usual like any 'Baradirajaa' movie the movie starts with "TWO HANDS" coming on the Screen and "Baradirajaa" with is wonderful voice addressing the audience "En Iniya Tamil Makale Ungal Pasathu Uriya Baradirajaa Pesukiren....." and the camera as usual revolves around Two Goats, Two Delhi Erumai and a Water falls etc etc.
Shivaji is a respectable person in a village. He is like a Leader for that village. He gets Claps from the village people and when he returns home he gets "Slaps" from his wife "Vadivukarasi". She treats him like a Servant and scolds him in "Karaikudi Achi" Language and even splits "ECHAI" on him. Shivaji takes all those scolds just because he respects his Father-in-laws words. The scene were so touching as Legend "Acing King" Shivaji, "Direction King" Baradirajaa and "Music King" Ilayarajaa giving the background music. It seems that Shivaji had not had any kind of relation with his wife for 20 years.
The movie gets the real touch when "RADHA" comes to the village with a RAFTING BOAT without JACKET. Each and every
scene
in the movie where RADHA and SHIVAJI meets are really wonderful.
Radha starts a small boat ride center for the village people like
the "Rafting in Colorado Springs" so
that the village people can do RAFTING in Summer and can chill
out with Beer. SHIVAJI Who is very much into RAFTING,
SKIING, Go carting , Golfing, Fishing etc etc starts to
move with RADHA seeing. First he starts to chat with her
regarding the improvement of her business etc etc but later
seeing her in JACKET LESS Saree and her laugh and the way she
shouts "MEENU MEENU" he starts To
spend more time with Jacket Less "RADHA" so
that he can see a MATTER MALAYALAM movie For
free of cost seeing her side angle !!Time runs as Shivaji and Radha starts to Play games like 'Catching Fish' in ponds using Shivaji's towel and Radha making 'Fish Curry' with the fish they caught in the pond and serving him and Shivaji eating the food and saying it super. "When a Figure like Radha serves Fish Curry that too without wearing a Jacket' even Curd Rice will be like 'Fish Curry' and Chicken Curry ! Right Guys !! One more 'Love Story' runs side by side between Sivaji's son and Ranjani a Poor Low Caste guys daughter. The LOVE Scenes between both the pairs 'Sivaji and Radha', 'Ranjani and her Boy friend' were really up to the mark and "BARADIRAJAA" has poured his Village touch in his direction which was Excellent and was the best during those days.
Time comes when 'Shivaji's' wife Vadivukarasi comes to know that there is a relation going between her husband and the Boat Rafting Female "Radha". She starts her 'Attam' and starts to kick Shivaji every time she sees him. Shivaji takes everything. Meanwhile 'Vaduvukarasi"s X-Boy friend SATYARAJ comes from jail to meet her and he get a ride from RADHA and starts to say stories about their relation. RADHA who has lots of respect on SHIVAJI's family cannot take the bull shit coming out of SATYARAJ's mouth slaps him with that RAFTING stick and kills him. SHIVAJI who cant take her girlfriend going to JAIL goes and sleeps in her place for years together like "PAYTHON" sleeping after eating a deer !
Atlast RADHA comes from JAIL to meet SHIVAJI and she comes and touches SHIVAJI and one must see Shivaji after RADHA
touches him. He
changes his face and a Background song by
"MALASIYA" VASUDEVAN 'Poongatru Thirumbuma Enpatta
Virumbuma ....." and he dies and even Radha dies
who cant take her RAFTING LOVER who died and the movie ends.SHIVAJI:
An excellent actor. Right from his 'Parasakthi', 'Veera Pandiya Katta Bomman', 'Pasa Malar', 'Devar Magan' he is the legend and no one can say a word against him. He is the king of acting. In this movie he comes as a 50 Year old 'Tatha' who falls in love with a 25 year old girl who is married and has a Wife who does'nt respect him. He was excellent in his acting although he overacted in the last scene like shaking his head when RADHA touches him as if Some 250 volt of electricity passed in his body. Other than that he is a legend.
RADHA:
RADHA is one excellent actor we had in the history of Tamil movie industry. She had a great smile, A sweet look, and a Good Dress Sense with a neat Structure which not many Female artist had that time. A big plus is her acting which made her a perfect Heroine of those days. She was a hot cake and 'Mohan & Radha" pair gave lots and lots of hits. One time there was a combination of "KOVAI THAMBI, ILLAYARAJA, MOHAN & RADHA" which gave us lots and lots of musical hit movies. She is natural, good at acting and I Love RADHA. Her wonderful acting in 'ENGA CHINNA RASA', With RAJINI in 'Rajadi Raja' and i can list out 'N' number of movie. She is a complete package. But to me her best performance was in this movie 'Mudal Mariyadai'. She has acted in such a way that even Shivaji was down sometimes. ! Excellent Artist.

50% of the success goes to BARADIRAJA and ILAYARAJA for their direction and Music. Ilayarajaa's timely music and songs were excellent. All the songs were 'AAA' class. Especially "Poongatru Thirumbuma En Patta Virumbuma" and "Antha Nilava Than Naan Kayile Pudichen...." song were Excellent. BARADIRAJA showed his Village 'Direction Touch' in many places ! I think they both are really talented in what they do except for Baradiraja's Last movie 'Taj Mahal'.
A person who created a revolution in Village stories is our 'Baradirajaa'. He and K. BAGYARAJ were the persons who gave break to star directors like KB and Sridhar. He took his camera to each and every corner on village and captured the Life and happenings in village and he was very successful in it. Right from " 16 Vayadenele", "Vedam Pudidhu", "Kizaku Seemayle" Baradirajaa has his own way and track. In this movie he showed a LOVE between a Old Guy and a Pool Young female and he explained that even Old guys look for LOVE although you might say that for a guy who is 50 years old instead of playing POOL or going to DANCE Floor why the hell he fell in love with a girl who is 25. What to do ! So girls be careful with Old Perisus. What ever may be the movie gave what people need. Good Music, Good Songs, Good Acting, Good Direction, Good Screenplay and what else you need from a movie. I grade "MUDAL MARIYADAI" to be an excellent movie and its worth 90/100.
