OSCAR Award:
The 73rd OSCAR award presentation was held on 25th
March 5 P.M in Hollywood, Los Angeles. It was a great
day for Movie Lovers all over the world. Its the best award any
movie maker can get in 
this world. Over 800 Million viewers all
over the world were watching the Live telecast of the Oscar
presentation. Every other thing was the same other than the
presentation words which changed to "The OSCAR Goes
To" from "The Winner is" .
Los Angeles, CA the World Head Quarters of Fun.
The Home of Entertainment. HOLLYWOOD which gives
movies to the world was filled with Stars all over the world for
the Grand ceremony. Every year the Academy selects and honor the
best movies, best stars who entertain us for One whole year.
There is a 6,000 Member selecting committee which picks the best.
Here are the results. There are Some Ups and Downs. The specialty
this time was an "ASIAN MOVIE" gave a tough competition
to Hollywood movies. Yes its "CROUTCHING TIGER
HIDDEN DRAGON" which was nominated in all Category and which
won 3 OSCARS.
BEST
ACTOR - "RUSSELL CROWE" THE GLADIATOR)
Some time back I wrote a review on "CAST AWAY" and
Lollu Express gave 100/100 for the movie and 
to me
"TOM HANKS" did a great job in the movie. Loosing
weight, Gaining weight and such a wonderful performance. The
fight for the BEST ACTOR award in Leading role was between HANKS
and RUSSELL CROWE (GLADIATOR HERO) , a Rome
based History Subject. Yes HOLLYWOOD eyes was on TOM HANKS for
the BEST ACTOR in Leading role. Many T.V Channels projected HANKS
to win the BEST Actor award. OSCAR and HANKS mean the same. HANKS
is Two time Academy award winner for his wonderful performance in
the movie "PHILADELPHIA". I think the only Tough judge
and a Narrow Miss for the BEST ACTOR for the year 2000
was TOM HANKS.
Yes the Winner of the Award for BEST ACTOR was RUSSELL
CROWE for his excellent performance in the movie
"GLADIATOR".
BEST
ACTRESS: "JULIA ROBERTS - ERIN BROCKOVICH"
The BEST ACTRESS is the most interesting award we look for.
Couple of Years back it was TITANIC 
which
won almost everything. Last year it was KEVIN SPACEY and
"THE AMERICAN BEAUTY" that stole the show.
Similarly the only Competition less award for this year OSCARS
was the BEST ACTRESS award. It was all HOLLYWOOD Most
wanted "JULAI JULIA JULIA". Julia Roberts for
her excellent performance in the movie "ERIN
BROCKOVICH" I saw ERIN BROCKOVICH and for some
reason i didn't write a review. I don't know why. But an
excellent movie and a Well deserved OSCAR for JULIA. Julia
Roberts was nominated for PRETTY WOMAN in 95.
She is a touch of class actress and its really a worth it award
for her.
BEST
MOTION PICTURE: "THE GLADIATOR"
Hollywood gives lots and lots of Quality movies every year. They
are the leaders in this Tough movie world. Selecting the Five
Best Picture of the Year is really difficult. The competition was
between the following five. "THE TRAFFIC",
"CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON", "THE
GLADIATOR", "ERIN BROCKOVICH" and" THE
CHOCOLOTE". To me all the movies are great movies.
I saw 4 out of the above 5 movies. The fight was between
"THE GLADIATOR" and "THE TRAFFIC". The
movie "TRAFFIC" deals with Drug export into the United
States and its an excellent movie. But it was all "THE
GLADIATOR" that won the award. Yes the best Motion picture
award for the Year 2000 was "THE GLADIATOR".
ART
DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY: "CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN 
DRAGON"
The Whole world was in surprise when a Chinese movie was
nominated for OSCARS this time. The surprise is the movie was
nominated in the regular category and not in foreign movie
category. I wrote review on this movie few weeks back and many of
my friends had strong argument with me regarding this movie and
they said that the marks i gave for this movie was too much. I
think other than being a Chinese language movie this movie is a
master piece by the team that worked on this movie. The movie
garbed Both OSCARS for ART DIRECTON and CINEMATOGRAPHY!!

VISUAL
EFFECTS : "GLADIATOR"
Last year it was "THE MATRIX" which took many OSCARS for the Best Visual
Effects and there 
is no doubt that it took. But this year there was a
competition between "THE GLADIATOR" and
"CROUTCHING TIGER". Both the movie had an
extraordinary piece of VISUAL EFFECTS. But at last GLADIATOR took
the award for the best Visual Effects. GLADITAOR took the award
for the "BEST COSTUME" Too.
BEST
MAKEUP: "THE GRINCH"
I think it would not be nice if they didn't give any award for
Last years super duper hit movie "THE GRINCH". The
movie which stole the BOX OFFICE. Its sad that JIM CARREY
was not nominated for the Best Actor. But the movie was able to
get OSCAR for the BEST MAKE UP of the year 2000.
