"RHYTHM" - New Tamil Movie Review By "Your Prabhu"

"Adyar Arnold" Arjun, "Madipu Azagi" Meena, "Jollu" Jyothika, "All India Fruit Association President" Ramesh Arvind, Lux "Lakshmi", Nagesh, Manivannan in a new Tamil Revolutionary and Art Subject "RHYTHM". STORY:

These days the directors of Tamil movie follow one single track. They see 10 hit movies and take all the good things from them and make a movie. RHYTHM is one movie that is made in such manner. "KELADI KANMANI" Vasanth who directed a hit movie in the early 90's is trying to establish him like "PRAWN KING" K.T. KUNJUMON or like "KARADI KING" P.VASU is unable to do so with his movies like "APPU" , "DABBU" etc etc. He has tried his level best by Copying few scenes here are there from various hit movies. The result is "RHYTHM".

The story starts as our "ADYAR ARNOLD" roams with a Photo Camera in Bombay Unit Train Like 'Alaipayudhe' Madhavan does in Madras Train. He Meets Meena in Train as they both travel from the same place. Arjun starts to interact (JOLLU) with her as he comes to know that she is a Tamil girl. Meenu Kutty avoids Arjun initially and Arjun tries to prove to Meena that he is not a JOLLU and he is Just a LOLLU who is trying to develop friendship with her Just because she is a Tamil girl. But ARJUN ignores a 'KOLAN KUDI KARUPAYEE" who is also a Tamil Female who was sitting beside Meena in the same train. Meena Ignores Arjun's Jollu and asks him not to follow her any more. ARJUN to prove his innocence starts to roam behind her. After a while Meena starts to hear to Arjun and starts to share the same Auto which she didn't do before. Slowly a BOMBAY UNIT TRAIN FRIENDSHIP LOVE starts between ARJUN and MEENA. For sure the initial Scenes were really cool and up to our expectations.

Slowly this Railway station Friendship LOVE makes Arjun to invite Meena to his house where Meena meets Nagesh, Arjuns dad who badly wants his son to get married. Meena asks Arjun why he is still single and a Flash back comes. JOLLU JOTHIKA gets introduced as an "ALL INDIA MID RANGE SUMAR KATTAI". There comes a Dream song in "RAJASTAN TAR Desert". A super duper song by Unni Krishnan..in A.R. REHMAN music.

The song was Picturised in a real nice way. Excellent photography. But our JOTHIKA starts her GALIJ with her "KATTU KORANGU" FACE doing all sorts of Irritating action with her KORANGU FACE. In the middle of that song she lies on ARJUNS back and ARJUN starts to walk with Four Legs like an AFRICAN ELEPHANT in KENYA forest which was the height of GALIJ. Hope you guys understand the Position of ARJUN and JOTHIKA. Like the ELEPHANT GAME in our Childhood right where One guy lying with Hands and legs and one guy will get a ride. I guess only in Tamil cinema our heroines can get ELEPHANT RIDE, HORSE RIDE from our Heros!!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!

In the meantime JOTHIKA and ARJUN plays Basket ball with Road Side "PORUKIS" to show that they are the best Pair in this world. The height of Galij is when ARJUN lifts Jothika and Jothika dumps the ball into the basket like MICHEL JORDAN and shouts heyyyy. ARJUN has another chance to touch JOTHIKA's hips in this scene.... TAMIL HERO's VAZARANGADA Playing Basket Ball, Base Ball in Cinema. Hope they avoid "AMERICAN FOOT BALL" that is RUGBY with Heroines as it gets wild where one has to fall on the other to get the BALL I mean FOOT BALL.

Meanwhile JOTHIKA catches a Train to Meet ARJUN in Chennai and she dies in a Train Accident. Meena after hearing Arjuns Strory stars her Flash back. "ALL INDIA FRUIT & PAZAM PARTY" President Dr. RAMESH ARAVIND gets introduced as a Playboy. His Playboy actions were really irritating and MEENA falls in love with her. Ramesh Mom LAKSHMI is a 'ACARAMANA IYER ATHU PENMANI' who does not like a 'NON IYER ATHU FEMALE' as her 'MATTU PONNU' says no to their LOVE. But Love wins and they get married. Ramesh Aravind unfortunately dies in the same Train Accident as that of Jothika. MEENA adopts a Poor guy from orphanage and settles in Bombay like SHARONE STONE settles in SANTA MONICA in BASIC INSTINCT movie.

Nagesh starts his MAMA work of making ARJUN and MEENA together. Meanwhile two dream songs in which Early 1990's Super Katti "RAMYA KRISHNAN" comes and dances with RAJU SUNDARAM which was height of irritation although RAMYA was Good. Also that SHANKAR MAHADEVAN who exactly looks like a BULL DOG comes and dances for one song. The songs were taken very well but it would had been great if some one other than Shankar Mahadevan would have danced for it. The movie then drags drags drags from that point and it turns to an art movie and at last MEENA and ARJUN joints their hand in a revolutionary climax.

ARJUN:

"ADYAR" ARNOLD SHIVAJI NAGAR steels the show with one of his best performance after a long time. He was quite, Calm and Matured in his acting. His Love scenes with JOTHIKA was really good and at the same time maintaining a good Distance in his matured Love was cool one. Fortunately they didn't give any arm show and Muscle show as he does in other movies like MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 or TERMINATOR PART II. Except for that ELEPHANT RIDE Putting JOTHIKA in his Back and walking with four legs ARJUN was ok in this movie. Gook acting and Keep it up.

MEENA:

"MADIPU" MEENA is becoming another "MADIPU" HAMSA except for that Sharp look. She is really a cute female in Tamil Industry. In her previous two movies she was not having that MADIPU in her Hips. In this movie she looks Plumpy. In the sense everything seems to be oversized. Don't know the reason. Its good ! How long can we see slim figures like SONALI BENDRE, SHILPA SHETTY etc etc. Its nice to have females like MEENA, BANU PRIYA etc etc who are always like AAVIN ICE CREAM in the red hot Madras Summer. But artist like Meena have their own flavor and there are fans for her always. She is one of my favorite artist of all time. I don't know the reason why she was fat in this movie when compared to her previous movies. The new MADIPU is not an ordinary MADIPU but an "MAMBALAM MAMI MADIPU". Meena do take care of that new MADIPU. Other than that as usual she was the best. THE BEST when compared to all the heroines in the south. "MADIPU" MEENA VAZGA!!!

LOLLU COMMENTS:

Although the movie had lots and lots of good things like Music, Songs, Picturisation, "MADIPU MEENA", "ARNOLD ARJUN" there are equal bad things which eats the movie and makes us feel odd. The two song sequence and Pazam Acting by Ramesh Aravind was irritating. Also after first half the movie turns like an ART MOVIE that will be screened in DOORDHARSHAN on Sundays. That too an ORIYA or KOREYA movie.

Vasanth who had two good hits in his life. One was Keladi Kanmani and another one was Aasai. After that he is not able to give any good hits. This movie at least will keep his name for his previous KODUMAI "APPU". When talking about Directors one must really think about K.BAGYARAJ or BALACHANDER. I think i must write a review on K.BAGYARAJ movie.

ARJUN and MEENA were too good. MEENA has to drink FAT FREE MILK and SLIM FAST to stay in SIZE and SHAPE. Of course Out Tamil people dont care about SHAPE but Size is important. So Meena do take care of your body. JOTHIKA was irritating as usual but in few scene she was ok ! All together its an ART MOVIE with good Picturisation and good Music, Songs. The movie for sure is not an entertaining one and its worth 50/100.
