- Lollu Express Tamil Classic Movie Review By "Your Prabhu"

Kavithalaya Present K.Balachander's "ROJA". "Army Officer" Aravinda Swamy, Madhubala, Nasar, Janakaraj in a Patriotic Subject "ROJA". Directed by "Manirathnam" and Camera by "Thota Dharani". Music by A.R. REHMAN. The movie won almost all the awards for that year and was the best movie released in early 90's. Manirathnam who came big in this movie Proved that he is the best director in India which won hundreds of awards and Its A.R. REHMAN's first movie. Enjoy my review on TAMIL CLASSIC COLLECTION "Roja".

STORY:

The story starts with a group of Indian army soldiers arrests a Terrorists Leader and puts him in jail in Srinagar, Kashmir. Aravida Swamy is a Software Programmer. He is not an application Programmer like us. He works on a software called "PASCAL 'O' PLASTIC" which is used in Army, Navy to encrypt data. The software is only known to a few people in India. That "PASCAL 'O' PLASTIC" software is not taught in Computer training centers like "APTECH", "NIIT", "BRILLIANT TUTORIALS" etc. or else all ANDRA guys would have been Master in that "PASCAL 'O' PLASTIC" software and will be in USA in two months.

Aravinda swamy goes to a small village in "Thirunelveli" to get engaged to a homely and family Looking village girl. In that village there are few "PATTIS" who are fit only to tell "VADAI Stories" to kids bugs Aravinda swamy asking weird questions. He happen to marry "Vaishnavi" but at last gets engaged to "Madhubala" (ROJA) as Vaishnavi requests Aravinda Swamy not to marry her. The movie runs for half hour showing the innocence of the village girl ROJA and two excellent songs like

Aravinda swamy happen to go to Srinagar as his boss cannot go their because of his health reason and he is the only person in India to know that "PASCL 'O" PASCAL" software. See that's the reason we must work in Software's like ORACLE, JAVA, CORBA so that we can avoid going to places like Srinagar and get Gun Shots in our Butt. A terrorist gang closely follows Aravida Swamy and Madhubala. Few really interesting scene and touch of class direction by Manirathnam and A.R. Rehmans Music touches the bottom heart of our fans with another beautiful song

One fine morning Madhubala instead of sitting in her house goes to a nearby temple and Aravind swamy runs searching for her and the terrorist catches him and arrests him. Then real Classical scenes like how Our Indian officers are arrested by the terrorist and suffers comes and they are really touching. Those Terrorist are the people who work against our nation and who want Kashmir to be a separated from India. The deal is if the Indian Government release Terrorist Leader "Ismayil Khan" they will release Aravinda Swamy (Soft ware Engineer who knows "PASCAL 'O' PLASTIC" software. "ROJA" Madhubala seeks help from Military officer Nasar to search for her lost husband. A real "AAA" Class scene comes when Madhubala meets the Terrorist leader. One heart breaking scene also comes when Those "Terrorist People" burns our National Flag, the Scene was taken really in a class way that even our blood starts burning. Atlast Aravinda Swamy escapes from the Terrorist and at last joins Madhubala.

ARAVINDA SWAMY & MADHUBALA:

They both acted really well in this movie. Especially Aravinda Swamy who was really smart in his looks and acing. He looked like a Software engineer. Especially the scenes in which he keeps his sad face and talking to the terrorist and the scenes in Thirunelveli talking with those old Pattis, In everything he was excellent. ROJA was a big break for his acting career.

Madhubala also did a great job in this movie. She was never a super star. But her two big hits ROJA and GENTLE MAN were really good movies for her. She comes as an innocent girl who is fighting with Officers who does not know Tamil. Excellent acting. Good Job Madhubala. But that Chinna Chinna Asai Song is too much for you. Kurumbu ....

MANIRATHNAM, AR REHMAN & THOTA DHARANI:

Now we will come to the real creators of the movie. Manirathnam, A.R. REHMAN and THOTA DHARANI. One must really appreciate the way the movie was taken. Hats off to Mani and Thota who worked on the camera. The movie was taken in KULU & MANALI area in Himacha Pradesh State. Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir are the two most beautiful places in India. I have been to KULU and MANALI and I know how beautiful the place is. Thota did an excellent job of bringing the sweet memories of our College Trip to DELHI, KULU & MANALI.

A.R. REHMAN's outstanding music in this movie made him the super Music Director in India. Excellent music and the songs were really a big hit Thanks to Vairamuthu for his wonderful lyrics. A.R. REHMAN got the best music director for this movie.

Manirathnam as usual with his touch of class direction. I don't know how he is able to make real classic movies like NAYAKAN, ROJA, MOUNA RAGAM. Hats off Mani ! I love Manirathnam Movies and he is the best director in India. To me ROJA was his best movie. What a touch of class in each and every scene in the movie. He really brought that "Indian Feeling" in this movie ! A Class director and nothing to say much.

Guys remember! Its almost One year now. The Same time Last year our INDIAN Soldiers were fighting in KARGIL for our nation. I thought that it will be a right time to write a movie review for a movie like "ROJA" although I added lots of Lollu Spice to my review. Just think for a second! Our Soldiers are fighting for our nation in that cold temperature, in that Snow filled mountains without proper food! Just to save our nation. There was a fund collected for "KARGIL WAR" last year. When something like this happen please open you pocket and donate for the cause. Its for good. When you are able to afford something for good please do it.

MANIRATHNAM who made a movie like ROJA and made people to think about what's happening in the borders of India etc etc. He brought the attention of the common people. Cinema is a media which can be used for lot of good things and Only Class directors take movies like ROJA which opens the eyes of thousands of People. ROJA is one Movie which opened the eyes. I will not say that its just a movie but its something more than that. "Hariharan got his first song in Tamil Thamiza Thamiza Nalai Naam Nale Song" LOLLU EXPRESS Grades the movie to be the best movie of last DECADE and the movie is worth 100/100 from Lollu Express.
