CITY" - Travel Review by Your Prabhu
"SEATTLE" the biggest city in the North West part of
USA takes the Pride of being the Most beautiful Place in the
North West States with Pacific Ocean backwaters running into the
city and Lake Washington Flows all the way with its natural Pine
trees and Rain forest. Enjoy my review and travel experience on
my trip to "SEATTLE" during the Memorial Day week end

NORTH WEST STATES:
WASHINGTON, OREGON and ALSAKA forms the North West
States of United States of America and these states are very rich
in
their natural beauty and are very famous for its mountains and
Rain forest. ALASKA all together is a different story with its
Nine months winter season and hardly you find any one who is
interested to go to ALASKA and settle down. But WASHINGTON and
OREGON are two beautiful states which has lots and lots of
natural beauty one can discover. I made a trip to Seattle as My
lots and lots of my friends work in Microsoft in Seattle area and
there was a North West International festival going on in Seattle
and my Employer family and members performed a Dance in that
international festival. Let me explain in detail.
MY TRIP:
It was a long week end. So Three full days and I took a day off
so FOUR FULL DAYS OF FUN. Thought that I have
covered almost each and every single corner of NORTH EAST
USA and let me do something different! Something which
give me more fun rather than watching TV or a drive to
CLEVELAND or a Drive to CINCINATTI which is a normal
routine for any Indian guy who is living in COLUMBUS or DAYTON.
My close friend called me one fine night and asked me "What
am i going to do for the Long week end" and asked me to come
to Seattle. He works for Microsoft which is located in Seattle.
Ok I decided I will give a shot as my Other family My employers
family members also had a dance function. I boarded TWA flight
from Columbus and then i went to St. Louis Missouri. From there i
changed my flight and this time its a bigger flight as it has to
travel for another 3 1/2 hours and has to cover
nearly 1200 miles from St. Louis to reach Seattle.
Man the flight was really cool although its like going to a small
India trip. So the total flying time from Columbus to Seattle was
5 Hours and then the stop over etc etc etc. I gained
THREE hours as i was flying from East Coast to
West Coast and a total distance of nearly 2000 Miles.
I landed in Seattle and the flight was 1/2 hour late. It
was night 1:30 PST when i landed in SEATTLE/TACOMA
International airport and my sad sweet friends RAJESH, GOPI, RAVI
were waiting for me. Take it from me I really felt that Its a
different week end when i stepped out of my Flight. There was a
huge "GARY PAYTON" picture in the
airport and when RAJESH got his car and when we stepped out "IT
WAS GREEN GREEN GREEN GREEN" every where. Not even
a single spot was muddy or brown and all that you can see is
GREEN plants everywhere. Its beautiful.
MAY 26th 2000:
It was a short night sleep for me. I just came out of the Rajesh
Apartment and right opposite to his Apartment is the Worlds
largest Software company Main Complex. Yes its MICROSOFT. I am
soon planning to Move to MICROSOFT once this
Assignment is over here in Columbus, Ohio. I had a good walk all
around the MICROSOFT complex watching and thinking and getting
Motivated and Lots and lots came into my mind!!!! "What else
can a human achieve in this world. Yes i am talking about BILL
GATES, The CEO of MICRO SOFT who lives in SEATTLE, WA. RAJESH
came from his office that evening and we went to SEATTLE Airport
again to Pick our Employer daughters and our Company Presidents
(Sowmya, Ramya) and Preetha who also came to Seattle to perform
their dance in the International Dance festival. Dr. SRIDHAR and
DR. NARAYANAN and AKILA came that Afternoon. The real Galij
started in Airport itself as they came from their flight and we
guys Jumping and shouting and making fun of everything. That
night we had out dinner in THAI restaurant in a Big Huge
shopping complex. It was 15 Member crowd and we had lots of fun
eating and chatting about our Lollu Express. Then we dropped them
in the guest house.
SATURDAY 27th MAY:
It was a big day. Being a long weekend It was really hard for all
of us to meet. It was nearly 30 Lollu members Flying from
different parts of USA to Seattle. We again
went to the airport to Pick Dr. EKAMBARAM (My company Director) and
BINDU a MBA student from University of Texas, She was flying from
Houston, TX and sad girl she flew 6 Hours from Houston and
reached Seattle. Dr. EKAMBARAM is a god father of all of us here
in USA who came to USA in 1970's and is doing a great job flew
from BURMINGHAM, ALABHAMA. So it was fun ! I danced in Seattle
airport before Chithappa and it was fun. BINDU was confused after
seeing Myself and Rajesh in action. We had Lunch in a
Mexican restaurant that afternoon with our Company
director.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL IN SEATTLE:
Every year in Seattle in summer there is INTERNATIONAL
FESTIVAL in which taleted artist all over the world come
to Seattle and take part in the event. It may be Music, Dance or
what ever may be. Our vice President's are very good dancers and
they have performed many dance functions all over USA. Their
troop is called Sai Nrithya and they performed their dance for 1
1/2 hours and every one in that arena were really amazed to see
Their performance. SANDEEP took care of the Stage manager job and
he did a good job and Myself and Rajesh took care of making the
audience come in and make sure that they are properly seated etc.
To finish with Sowmya, Ramya, Preetha, Akila and Bindu all the
Five dancers who performed their dance show danced for
"NIMUDA NIMUDA Song" from HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM song
and steeled the hearts of hundreds with their marvelous
performance. We also danced off stage and it was total fun and i
was at my peak seeing my good friends doing a great performance
before a unknown crowd and they were praised by everyone. Sandeep
did a good job of introducing the artist on stage and they all
got a standing applause from the crowd.
MAY 28th 2000: (SEATTLE SITE SEEING)
Guys if you plan a trip to SEATTLE you need at least TWO
full days to See SEATTLE alone. Forget about VANCOVER, CANADA
which is like 100 Miles north of SEATTLE. Ok Let me say
where and all we went in and around SEATTLE Area.
Waterfalls :
After a long time i am seeing a Waterfalls in USA. I am from a
flat land place from Columbus, Ohio and I need to drive for Six
Hours to See a waterfalls (NIYAGRA FALLS is Six hours
from my place). Man it was so beautiful and this falls
is 15 miles South of Seattle in Interstate 5 route. It was so
beautiful and one needs to go in Summer to really enjoy the
beauty. Also there are beautiful restaurants right next to the
waterfalls so that you can chill out or rent a room in a good
week end and have fun ! Man life is full of fun you need to go
and explore places !! Enjoy the waterfalls in Seattle and if you
are interested in trucking and hiking which i normally don't do
its the Ultimate place ! You can walk down couple of miles and
you can reach down. I think Waterfalls is the natures beautiful
thing.
SPACE NEEDLE:
If you go to Seattle you need to Climb the Space Needle. Its
right next to the downtown and its an Observation deck from where
you can view the whole Seattle. The entry fee to climb is $9 and
its worth it. You have a good view of the whole city and the
PACIFIC OCEAN from the deck. The Space needle is some thing like
the CN TOWERS in TORONTO, CANADA and its really
beautiful. From the deck i could see the beauty of the city with
straight roads and the People taking part in International
festival etc etc. We had fun taking lots and lots of pictures and
the Usual "RAJESH & PRABHU" dance below the Seattle
Space Needle Deck and I was having fun shouting as a Indian
Punjabi Old lady saying " I LOVE YOU PATTI"... HA HA HA
HA HA. It was real fun with 20 people (Lollu members) climbing
the deck.
If you are ready to spend 60$ and if you are in a honeymoon trip
take it from me "You can dine in SPACE NEEDLE" which is
a revolving restaurant. I think Its worth if you dine with you
wife once in your life time !!
A BOAT RIDE IN "PACIFIC OCEAN"
Any tour is not complete without a boat ride or any city is not a
full city without its lake shore or sea shore. SEATTLE is located
in the back waters of PACIFIC ocean and its gifted to be like
that. From SEATTLE downtown there is a ferry that runs to the
other part of the island which is normally used to carry people
from SEATTLE who work in the downtown. The cost to go from this
shore to the other is 8$ a head and you can drive your car into
the boat and you can stay their in the car or you can go up and
have fun. Man it was like sailing in Titanic ship that too in
Pacific ocean. Pacific Ocean is a wild ocean that spreads all
over the west coast of USA from Seattle till the extreme end of
South America. It was wonderful 1/2 Hour boat ride and then
another 1/2 hour boat ride back. While coming back its just 8$ a
car ! so better peep in as much as possible in a single car.
MICROSOFT, BOEING:
Two giant companies are located in Seattle. MICROSOFT the worlds
largest Software development firm is in Seattle. There is a huge
amount of Indian Population in Seattle and all our people are
doing a good job over there. I am planning to move to Seattle in
another two months and settle there. BOEING the worlds largest
aircraft company is located in Seattle. Remember what ever flight
you
board to fly in this world is a Boeing Product. If you have time
you might want to check out BOEING and MICROSOFT.
SEATTLE IS A SPORTS CITY TOO!!
Seattle is a big sports city. With GARY PYTON taking care of
SEATTLE SUPER SONICS a great NBA basket ball team and the SEATTLE
SEA HAWKS taking care of NFL (National Foot Ball Leauge) Seattle
is a big sports city. Check out the KEY ARENA from the Space
Needle ! you will be amazed to see the view from the Space
Needle. ! I love GARY PAYTON and he is one of the best sportsman
and BILL GATES is a great fan of SEATTLE SUPER SONICS
team.
PLACES NEAR BY SEATTLE:
You can ask I have flew a long way from ORLANDO, FL or
DALLAS, TX to see SEATTLE. I have four full days of
vacation what can i do ! Man there is a lot to see in Seattle
Area itself which i did"nt cover in this mail. I think once
i settle down there i will write more about the place. PORTLAND
is down south 3 Hours drive from Seattle and VANCOUVER, BC,
CANADA is a very beautiful place. Check out VANCOUVER if you have
time! Its just 2 hours drive from Seattle.
LOLLU COMMENTS:
Have fun in the GREEN CITY. One good thing is flight
tickets to Seattle is not costly if you book the tickets well in
advance. I got a good deal for 230$ (US DOLLARS) from Columbus to
Seattle which is way far. All the others who came also had a very
good deal. It takes atleast 2 FULL DAYS to enjoy the whole city
and 4 Full days to enjoy the whole WASHINGTON state climbing the
mountains etc etc. ONE FULL day in VANCOUVER is good. There is
nothing much to spend if you have a friend over there. A Good
trip for a single member with flight charge will cost you 375 $
which is not bad provided you have a friend over there in SEATTLE
Area. We had fun and i will write more about the city once i
reach there and settle in Seattle. It was a wonderful four day
trip!
