"STAR" - A NEW TAMIL MOVIE REVIEW BY YOUR PRABHU

"Sakala Kala Valavan" Prasanth, "Arva Kolaru" Jothika, "2001 Super Villian" Rahuvaran, Pravin Kanth, "Mummy" Sree Vidhya, "Kadi" Ramesh Khanna in a new Tamil Movie "STAR". Music by A.R. Rehman and the movie Directed by Pravin Kanth. Enjoy My review on Star.

STORY:

Movies are the only source of entertainment for us these days. So we are forced to see anything which comes in a 12*6 Inch Tape. "STAR" with a big star cast promised to be a good one. But unfortunately the movie didn't give what we expected. Prasanth who does not have any relations of his own lives his life by going to Jail for others. He enjoys going to Jail and he has lots of friends over there. Although it appears silly we are forced to see all these silly things because we have rented the tape giving One Dollar. Prasanth to chill out goes to a Place where he dances with Mumtaz who just comes for a song as usual. I don't understand this new trend of making Mumtaz dance for one song like in early 80's where silk used to dance for one song in a dance floor full of Color lights revolving like the dance floors in San Francisco and silk dance with a Glass dress. It was kind of irritating although the song was really nice and Music was A Class.

Now lets come to the story. Jothika who stays in a Ladies hostel meets Prasanth one day. She roams here and there with lots of ornaments and she ends up slapping a Policeman. Prasanth who is a "thyagi" says that he slapped the policeman and goes to Jail instead of her. This develops a soft corner on Jothika's Left Heart. She thinks how nice is this guy. Going to Jail on behalf of her. Prasanth comes out of jail and saves Jothika from an Auto Driver by fighting with Auto drivers. That's it "LOVE DEVELOPS" between Prasanth and Jothika and they both start singing duets with Cooling glass etc etc.

Now the main storyline. "NATAMMAI" Fame VijayaKumar hides his Son "PravinKanth" (Director of the movie) in Mauritius thinking that his Office Mate "RAHUVARAN" will kill him sometime as he thinks that Vijayakumar is responsible for his son death in a fight against Veerapan in forest. HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! So Rahuvaran is waiting for 18 years to Kill VijayaKumars son sometime with "PURA SUDARA" Gun with Long Hair which he didn't cut for 18 years. The Wig he was wearing was very funny. Long black hair, which reached Rahuvaran's hip. Vijayakumar meets Prasanth and asks him to act as his son for a while thinking that Rahuvaran will kill Prasanth so he can save his orginal son who is in Mauritius spending his time in beach and dance floors and who is really disobedient. Prasanth agrees to the deal and enters Vijaykumar's house and earns lots of respect on Sree Vidhya who is waiting to see his son for 18 years. Fortunately JOTHIKA happens to be Prasanth's "MURAI PONNU" and Manivannan father of Jothika writes all the Property to Prasanth and all those comedy.

The height of comedy is climax of the movie. Vijayakumar Son who was in Mauritius sees a Video tape and comes to madras and he comes to know that Prasanth is acting as his son. He gets pissed off and joins Rahuvaran who looks like a Halloween "Pisasu". Time comes when everything comes to picture. Rahuvaran instead of Shooting Prasanth shoots "Jothika" and she gets admitted in hospital. Then the regular "Air Tube" in Jothika's nose, Thermometer, Ammeter etc etc etc. Prasanth takes the task of destroying Rahuvaran's group. "NATAMMAI" Vijayakumar shoots his Son "PravinKanth" by mistake and Prasanth says to police that he shooted him and saves NATTAMMAI and as usual Jothika waits for Prasanth to come from Jail etc etc etc. HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!

PRASHANTH & JOTHIKA:

Prasanth probably is the person who is acting in lots and lots of movies these days but none of them is giving him a big boost. STAR was expected to be a big one because of the star cast. But unfortunately didn't give the boost he expected. JOTHIKA was good few times and many times failed to deliver anything. RAHUVARAN was wasted with a Big Black Wig and talking few dialogs which doesn't match him. As usual "NAATTAMAI" Vijayakumar did few NAATTAMI job which is worthless. SREE VIDHYA was wasted in this movie. RAMESH KHANNA, MASTER "MADHAN" brings few laughs but it gets disappeared in the cranky screenplay.

LOLLU COMMENTS:

We don't have anything to do other than watching some tapes that is 12 *6 inches right. If that is correct we can watch anything. A.R. REHMAN tunes were really cool and couple of Songs were really great. Especially "RASIGA RASIGA" song was really a Touch of class. The director himself acts in this movie and what to say. Nothing special about it. "STAR" for sure failed to deliver anything Special other than watching something. What to do. There is no other choice. Star a Below Average movie and it gets 35/100.
